theJOYproject
theJOYproject is a newly founded brand and social experiment that is dedicated to spreading awareness about the impact of Suicide loss.
At thejoyproject, our mission is to raise awareness about the lasting impact suicide has on the loved ones left behind.
Through our apparel we aim to spark meaningful conversations, break the silence, and offer support to those who are grieving. We believe in the power of community and self expression to bring light to difficult topics, reminding everyone that no one is truly alone.
Check out our #leftbehind campaign; a platform we created to allow those who have lost loved ones from suicide to dedicate letters and notes to.
The beginning of our brand name
On March 10th, 2020, we lost our sister, Joy, to the long battle of her mental health. She fought as hard as she could but in the end, her pain overwhelmed her. The loss left a deep wound in our family. My siblings and I were plunged into darkness, each of us struggling in the dark to make sense of the void she left behind. Some of us even found ourselves facing our own suicidal thoughts, weighed down by grief and confusion. It was a painful reminder that the anguish doesn’t end with the one who leaves-it gets passed to those who are left behind.
Creating theJOYproject and the #leftbehind campaign is our way of stopping this devastating cycle. By sharing Joy’s story and the stories of others, we hope to spread awareness that suicide isn’t a solution; it only transfers the hurt to the next person. We want to show that there is help, there is hope and that no one needs to face their battle alone.
We see you, so please Stay;

There is nothing more I have regretted than not saying what needed to be said before losing someone dear to me. The #leftbehind campaign is a platform we have designed for everyone who has yet to say what they needed to their loved one. It’s never too late. There is someone out there who needs to hear those words. Maybe even someone with the same name.
In the following box, feel free to write a letter to a loved one, or even a stranger. Start with “Dear [ Name ]” and in the second box follow your heart for the rest.
Start the Conversation
If you or your loved one is feeling suicidal, it’s important to reach out to someone you trust- whether a friend, family member or professional. You don’t need to have all the answers, just expressing how you’re feeling is a significant first step. Opening up creates an opportunity for others to help, whether through listening, offering support, or guiding you toward professional resources. It’s important to remember that you are not alone, and reaching out can be a vital step toward healing.
